About US

History

Desert Behavioral Health (DBH) was founded in 2009 based on the Bio-Psycho-Social integrated mental health services model. In the past years, DBH has provided outpatients mental health services for thousands of clients in Southern Nevada.   Desert Behavioral Health has worked with community partners (Nevada Behavioral Health, Desert Psychiatry, Alliance Mental Health Specialists, Desert Parkway Behavioral Health Hospital, etc,), hand in hand, to promote client and community health and wellness. Desert Behavioral Health is operated by a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive behavioral and mental health assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy (individual, family, and group), medication management, neurofeedback training and rehabilitative services (Psychosocial Rehabilitative services, Basic Skills Training, Day Treatment). DBH follows a holistic approach, focusing on promoting the individual, family and community health and wellness, transforming life, one individual and one family a time.  

Mission
The mission of DBH is based on the psycho-bio-social model and provide integrated treatment and services to help individuals and families overcome mental illness, life challenges, and trauma, promoting healthy changes by strengthening and empowering individuals and families. 

To Whom and How Our services provided:

DBH serves children and adults of all ages.  We specialize in treatment of severe mental illness. Clients with Psychosis, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and various Mood Disorders including anxiety, depression, bi-polar, as well as, restoration of relationships. We not only use traditional methods of cognitive and behavioral based approaches, we also use Nero science technology to provide specialized Nero-feedback training and brain wave monitored Nero meditation training to promote and measure the changes.

DBH focuses on providing cultural competence mental health services.  We have clinicians, specialists, and staff on our team who speak Spanish, Chinese (Mandarina and Cantonese), Tagalog, Korea, Japanese, and Hebrew.

DBH also provides telehealth therapy.  Clients download a free simple HIPPA compliant program to their computer, tablet, or phone, so they can connection to their therapist through the internet.  It is a private connection that only you and your therapist share.  It saves time and allows clients to receive therapy in the comfort of their own home.

Therapy Services

Once you schedule an appointment with DBH, a diagnostic evaluation and comprehensive assessment will be conducted and a treatment plan will be developed specific to the client's needs before any treatment process starts.

DBH offers individual, family, group therapy in office, or home, and community therapy, and tele-therapy according to your needs and your insurance coverage benefits. We utilize interactive psycho-educational, insight oriented, cognitive behavioral approach to treat, as well, as play therapy and behavior modification for our younger population.
All therapists are professional ethical licensed clinicians, working under agency quality assurance policies and guidelines, who receive continuing education and on-going growth to update their skills and techniques to meet every client's needs.  

Rehabilitative Services

Basic Skills Training (BST) uses a psycho-educational approach one-on-one with the client providing interventions on improving basic living skills and social skills, including interpersonal functioning, communication skills, parent training, household management, organizational skills, time management, and transitional living skills. Service hours can be provided daily depending on the needs of the client.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialists (PSR) work intensely with the identified client and his or her family using a psycho-educational approach, along with behavior modification and insight-oriented counseling. Treatment issues include: parent education, behavior management, relationship building for issues around identity and intimacy, communication skills, moral reasoning, social competency, problem identification, self-sufficiency, emotion management for anxiety and anger, conflict resolution, coping skills, the use of humor when dealing with life challenges, as well as, learning how to establish and achieve life goals 

Tele-Therapy

Tele-therapy is a form of psychological service provided via internet technology, which can include consultation, treatment, transfer of medical data, emails, telephone conversations and/or education using interactive audio, video, or data communications. Tele-therapy involves the communication of client's medical/mental health information, both orally and/or visually.

Tele-therapy has the same purpose and intent as psychotherapy or psychological treatment sessions that are conducted in person. However, due to the nature of the technology used, tele-therapy may be experienced somewhat differently than face-to-face treatment sessions. 

Tele-Therapy is used for clients located anywhere in the state of Nevada who would otherwise find it impossible to make an in-person office visit due to mobility problems, sickness, or location issue.  Anyone can use tele-therapy, as they wish, in lue of an office visit as long as their insurance supports tele-therapy.

Steps and Procedures:
If you are interested in Tele-therapy, below are the steps to take:

1. Download and fill out DBH Tele-Therapy Consent and Contact forms (below), read and understand Client’s rights, risks, and responsibilities regarding telehealth and sign the form giving consent and all required information to DBH for such services.
2. Provide a copy of your ID, insurance card, and make appropriate arrangement for co-pay or service fee, schedule an appointment, and DBH office will send you a link through email to invite you to join a tele-therapy meeting online with a licensed clinician.  Please DO NOT choose the telephone option!
3. Download “Intermedia AnyMeeting” on your phone, computer, ipad or any devices that allows you to access the internet.
4. Accept your clinician’s invitation at the scheduled the time, sit back and enjoy a session at your desired private location.

Insurance Accepted for Therapy

Medicaid (all Types of Medicaid): We accept Medicaid insurance for therapy services, case management, medication management, rehabilitative services.

Medicare: Our therapists accept Medicare insurance for therapy services (Humana Gold Plus, AARP, Optum Medicare, Straight [Federal] Medicare).

Other Commercial Insurances: HPN; Sierra Health & Life (SHL); Sierra Health Care Options (SHO); OptumCare.

Career Opportunities

We are currently recruiting clinical providers. If you are a Licensed clinical psychologist, LCSW, MFT, LCPC, LDAC, or Board approved interns, Medicaid qualified QBA or QMHA, or you have a bachelor degree in social work, psychology or other field that related to human services and interests in providing in community support for clients with mental illness, we can provide training and assistant to enroll you as a provider to work with our team.

Internship program

Desert Behavioral Health (DBH) is aboard approved internship site. DBH is committed to provide our clinical interns with best experiences of learning, professional and personal growth, help interns to develop oneself into a competent and confident professional in our field. Below are some of the board approved onsite clinical supervisors on our team. You are welcome to complete your internship in our clinic by selecting your own offsite supervisor. If you believe DBH could be the place that fits your interests, passion, and professional developmental needs, please email your intent letter and resume to: info@DBHcares.com, titled as “Interested Intern”. We will contact you for an interview and will provide you opportunity to interview multiple supervisors.
